What is CloneCut?

CloneCut turns a source clip, one reference image and your instructions into an edited video. Use it to explore a different character, feature your product or change a scene without rebuilding the whole idea from scratch.

What can you edit with CloneCut?

One editor for different creative goals. Tell it which subject to replace and which parts of the source to preserve.

Replace a character

Use a reference photo to guide the appearance of a person in your clip. Ask to retain the original action, framing and scene.

Swap a product

Bring your own bottle, package or accessory into an existing product shot. Use a clear product image and identify the item to replace.

Change an object or prop

Explore a new bag, piece of furniture or scene prop without a separate editing workflow. Keep the request focused on one visible target.

Reimagine a background

Reference a different setting and describe the atmosphere you want. Specify which foreground subjects should remain.

How to use CloneCut

Three steps from your source material to a new variation.

  1. 1

    Upload a video and image

Choose a 3–15 second MP4 or MOV and one JPG or PNG showing the appearance you want.

  2. 2

    Describe the change

Explain what to replace, where it appears and what should stay the same. Review the credit cost before generating.

  3. 3

    Preview and download

Wait for the task to finish, review the result and download the edited clip. Refine your prompt if another variation is needed.

Make your next short-form video

Adapt existing footage for the message, audience or product you have in mind.

TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Remix a short clip with a new subject or setting. Keep your source framing suitable for the platform and review the result before sharing.

Product demonstrations

Try a product variation inside an existing demonstration. Check shape, labels and interactions carefully before using it in a listing.

Social ad creative

Develop alternative visual concepts from footage you can use. Generate one variation at a time for your creative review.

Story-driven clips

Give a short scene a new cast, prop or setting. Keep your creative direction focused and build your story one clip at a time.

Write a clearer video editing prompt

Specific instructions give the model a clearer target. Start with one change per generation.

  1. 1

    Name the source

Refer to your uploaded clip as @Video1 and your reference image as @Image1.

  2. 2

    Identify the target

Describe the target precisely: “the bottle in the person’s right hand” is clearer than “the object.”

  3. 3

    Describe the replacement

Ask to use the product, person or setting shown in the reference image.

  4. 4

    Say what to keep

Mention the camera angle, movement, lighting or background you want to retain. Preservation is a request, not a frame-perfect guarantee.

  5. 5

    Review the output

Check identity, product shape, hands and frame-to-frame consistency. Adjust your instructions for a new generation if needed.

Prepare your footage for a better edit

Your source clip and reference image matter as much as the prompt.

A short, clear source

Upload MP4 or MOV, 3–15 seconds long and up to 32 MB. Start with a visible subject and simple camera movement.

One useful reference

Use one JPG or PNG up to 8 MB. A sharp, unobstructed view of your subject helps communicate its appearance.

A realistic editing goal

Start with one replacement. Small lettering, exact logos, heavy occlusion and fast movement may need further editing.

CloneCut FAQ

Inputs, results and tips for your next video edit.

1

What does CloneCut do?

It edits an existing short video using one reference image and written instructions. Character, product, object and background edits all use the same upload form.

2

Do I need a source video?

Yes. Upload a source video, one reference image and a description of the edit you want.

3

Will movement and camera angles stay the same?

The source video guides the edit. Tell CloneCut what to preserve, but AI can change fine details, timing or identity. Review the full clip before using it.

4

Can I replace both a person and a product?

Use a reference image to guide character or product replacement. Focus each edit on one visible target and describe what should stay the same.

5

What output can I download?

Create a short edited video and download the result. Add music, voiceover or finishing touches in your preferred video editor.

6

Can CloneCut edit logos and subtitles precisely?

Exact lettering and brand marks are not guaranteed. Use a conventional video editor for final subtitles and precise logo overlays.

7

What if generation fails?

Confirmed technical failures return the task’s credits. An uncertain submission is not automatically resubmitted, preventing duplicate charges. A completed result still needs your quality review.

8

Is CloneCut part of Capafy?

This website is an independent product. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Capafy or the creator of the similarly named skill.
